Frame work

Trailer frame repairs, reinforcements, and structural modifications

A range of trailer frame work and reinforcements. For frame modification work, Trafi requires written instructions detailing how the modification will be carried out. VAK is able to plan and carry out the required modifications efficiently and with flexibility. We also update total weights and add axles when required.

We handle the design of dimensions, weights, and brake calculations. Brake modifications require a repair permit issued by Trafi. For modifications to VAK trailers, we recommend contacting your nearest VAK office directly. Once the renovation work has been planned and instructions provided, you can then agree on where the work will be carried out. The customer will receive a certificate of the modification work for the modification inspection.

Axles

If the total mass or dimensions of the chassis change, the number of axles must be adjusted accordingly. Adding a fifth axle increases the trailer’s unladen weight by approximately one tonne, while the payload capacity rises by around 3,000 kg. Adding extra axles to a trailer speeds up the work and reduces costs.

Brake work

Brake work on trucks and trailers requires precision, which is why our service centres are equipped with advanced brake diagnostic testing equipment. We always hold valid A-class brake repair permits.
