Factory
VAK’s factory and headquarters are in Vahto, just outside Turku. The factory offers around 22,000 m2 of heated production space and manufactures nearly 900 units each year. Strong design expertise, state-of-the-art machinery, and modern production facilities, combined with a skilled workforce, are the cornerstones of manufacturing high-quality transport equipment.
The new specialist body hall was completed in summer 2018. The halls are purpose-built for manufacturing extra-long trailers.
In autumn 2018, VAK expanded its equipment with a new Pema welding robot, significantly boosting production capacity.
VAK’s in-house element factory guarantees the high quality, reliable availability, and cost-effectiveness of its components. The element factory’s machinery was completely modernised in 2020.
VAK’s greatest asset is its skilled and dedicated employees. The factory employs around 350 specialists in heavy transport equipment, with production operating in two shifts.

History
It started from something small – that being VAK’s story. The family business was established in 1972 when Lassi Virtanen founded Virtasen Autokori Ky in the outskirts of Turku, in Vahto.
