Customer story – PostNord: “We invested in new V-Sliders to boost transport efficiency”

PostNord is a logistics company that has grown by focusing on responsibility, as well as employee and customer satisfaction. Today, the company’s turnover is more than double what it was when the PostNord brand was first launched in Finland.

PostNord aims to lead the way in fossil-free logistics. Progress in Finland has been especially swift, with PostNord Finland set to achieve a 56% reduction in carbon dioxide emissions by the end of 2025, as compared to 2020. These results have been achieved mainly by optimising trunk transport and increasing the use of biofuels.

Biogas is seen as a key energy source for the future of trunk transport, and its use has already increased substantially. At the same time, electric heavy vehicles have also been integrated into daily operations. Trunk transport solutions have been central to achieving emission reductions. https://www.postnord.fi/tietoa-postnordista/vastuullisuus/

At the start of the year, we delivered three 4-axle, 12.2-metre V-Sliders with cargo bodies to PostNord.

Interview with Mikko Laine, Senior Manager at PostNord, responsible for trunk transport and fleet development within the operations team.

Mikko, what led you to choose these particular V-Sliders? What type of routes will they be used for?

“We’ve previously acquired VAK V-sliders through a rental partner, and they’ve proven to be reliable and durable in use. These are the first VAK V-Sliders we have acquired for our own fleet. The 12.2-metre length of the V-Sliders allows us to optimise the use of our existing fleet and improve transport efficiency. We also included the V-Care contract with these. These units operate in trunk traffic between terminals.”

What is the size and composition of your fleet? Where are your operations and terminals located?

“Our fleet includes everything from vans to long trailer combinations. We mainly transport customer pallets and individual packages. These trailer features have been specifically designed to ensure their efficient delivery. Our fleet operates nationwide. We have our own terminals in Vantaa, Pirkkala, Turku, Mikkeli, and Kuopio, while the rest of Finland is served through our partner terminals.”

We would like to thank Postnord for their trust, and wish them safe journeys with their new fleet!
