Customer story: ED-Logistiikka Oy

ED-Logistiikka Oy is a logistics company based in Pirkanmaa, specialising in goods distribution transport. The company was established in 1990 under the name Kuljetus Ilpo Niemi Oy. Following a corporate acquisition in 2015, the company was renamed ED-Logistiikka Oy.

In June, ED-Logistiikka Oy received a striking all-electric 70-tonne HCT combination, along with two semi-trailers and a dolly. The combination will be used for Hartwall’s beverage transport between Lahti and Tampere.

Interview with Martti Lielahti, the company owner.

Martti, what led you to choose VAK for your all-electric HCT combination?

“We needed a fully electric HCT combination for beverage transport. I asked the VAK sales team what type of combination they would recommend for our operations. The product was tailored to our needs and fully met our expectations. VAK’s expertise in HCT combinations played a key role in finalising the deal.

“VAK’s dedicated service network is also a major advantage. We regularly visit the VAK Tampere branch, where we also service vehicles from other manufacturers, not just VAK equipment. VAK Maintenance Service’s workshop can handle all types of bodywork, from tailboards to heaters.”

What type of cargo will the new fleet transport, and in which regions will it operate?

“Our company primarily operates in the Pirkanmaa region. This combination will be used for Hartwall’s beverage transport between Lahti and Tampere.”

How has your collaboration with VAK been?

“The collaboration has been smooth. We already had experience with VAK products, both those we rented and ones we owned. However, this is the first VAK product we have purchased in about 10 years.”

Martti Lielahti, owner of ED-Logistiikka Oy, and Jari Vesala, sales manager at VAK, sealed the deal with a handshake.

What are your company’s future prospects?

“We currently have around 100 employees. Our fleet consists of 62 vehicles, including 6 fully electric vehicles used daily. We are planning and expecting modest growth. One of our core values is to electrify both distribution and trunk transport. The acquisition of these fully electric combinations is a natural step towards that goal.”

We would like to thank ED-Logistiikka for their trust, and wish them safe journeys with their new fleet!
